Staying Safe:

While there currently are a small number of Covid-19 (Corona Virus Disease of 2019) cases in Jefferson County, compared to other areas like New York City, we are aware of concerns in the community about the spread of this relatively new virus.

We are closely monitoring this fluid situation and following guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), and Jefferson County Department of Health.

We understand this can be a stressful time, and we would like to provide everyone with the information they need to stay safe and healthy during these trying times. Most of what we see in the media is regarding deaths and severe cases, but most cases are resolved naturally by self-quarantining.

There have been 167 cases in Jefferson County, with only one Covid-19 related death in the county.*
In the United States, only about 7% of people affected by Covid-19 have died of it,* mainly the elderly and those with already compromised health. Even with these small numbers, it is important to practice the proper safeguards to prevent the spread. Even those who are young and healthy can carry the virus to others, which is why it's important to practice proper hygiene and follow the social distancing protocols.

Travel should be avoided where possible, and you should wash your hands immediately upon returning from a public place, such as a store or gas station. We suggest wearing a face covering at all times in public, and New York State requires it if social distancing can't be maintained.

The bottom line is that just because younger people are less likely to die of Covid-19, it doesn't mean it can't be spread to older family members and friends, so please, follow instructions from the WHO, CDC, and local government. We all have a role to play in stopping the spread.

What we're changing:

Covid-19 has had a big impact on our operations, and we're taking all the proper precautions to keep ourselves, and the public safe. Our station is closed to the general public until further notice. Meetings and training have been halted, but have now been resumed. We continue to hold our Chicken Barbeque events as a 'drive-thru only' event. We are no longer accepting preorders or offering delivery, and we are considering hosting future barbeques as a drive-thru event, even after Covid has cleared up. We have been regularly sanitizing the station and apparatus, and we have proper PPE for any medical calls we may need to respond to.
